Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Dependable unit, good price   August 8, 2008

My first CD clock radio was a Memorex. In my opinion, it faded out prematurely, so I did not replace it with a Memorex. I shopped for a low end unit with good reviews. This particular unit had two reviews. One was positive and the other was DOA. DOA is better than slow-death because it can be returned promptly, whereas, slow-death can kind of catch you unawares. I bought the unit in March '08 and have waited till Aug. '08 to comment, figuring a five month test period was a reasonable length.

I like this unit. Everything works and continues to work. I didn't buy it for the radio, but do use the CD player almost every day. The speakers aren't bad for their size. Controls are easy to find and use.

The upright design makes for an odd looking unit, but it is very convenient. It's as easy to use the unit while lying down as not.

The sleep bar is certainly easy to find -- you can't miss it. If you like to wake up slowly, this is very convenient. On the other hand, the alarm is very loud, but with the big sleep bar it's easy to stifle. It's certainly not an alarm you could sleep through.

If the power is turned on, the LCD is very bright. It needs to be on to operate the CD player or radio, but is not needed for the alarm clock. Turning the power off dims the LCD, which is preferable at night.

This unit takes up very little horizontal space, which is a plus. My old unit devoured available space, so I only ever kept it in one place. This unit fits into small areas, so I move it when needed. The back-up battery maintains settings during relocations.

Unless this thing suddenly dies without cause during the next few years, if I have to replace it sometime, I would definitely want the same unit.
